Despite Volunteer Tourism (VT) being firmly rooted in sustainability, there is a lack of detailed understanding how the VT supply chain influences sustainability. Specifically, while recent analytical frameworks evaluating relations have detected power imbalances amongst main stakeholders, little known about and why different active components stakeholders’ influence Based on case study four stakeholders (sending receiving organizations, volunteers, host projects), this paper illustrates nuanced details collaborative within can lead to The determines organizations’ values are drivers for achieve sustainability outcomes. It demonstrates operationalising power-sharing shared decision-making throughout whole enables improve performance. In surveyed projects, accumulative short-term outcomes (based skills transfer confidence building) facilitate long-term transformative change such as social mobility.
